Different Kinds of Teaching Jobs

The teaching industry is a very broad field. There are many kinds of teaching jobs around, and each kind offers endless job opportunities. Indeed, the teaching field is a very productive and highly beneficial field to join nowadays.

The different levels in education provide a lot of job opportunities for teachers. Teachers can choose from jobs in primary education, secondary, or special education. Each job post is different from the next, and requires a different set of skills and knowledge.

Primary teachers are teachers who teach students in the preschool, kindergarten, and elementary levels. The job of primary teachers is more challenging than that of secondary teachers. This is primarily because of the broader scope of their job. Primary school teachers teach almost all the major subjects and handle all the aspects of primary education. This is what makes a primary teacher jobs distinct from secondary teacher jobs. A secondary teacher job is more specialized, focused, and specific. Secondary teachers are those who teach secondary school, or high school students. This means that a secondary teacher should have an area of focus, choosing from any of the subjects taught to high school students. These subjects are math, English, biology, chemistry, physics, and many others. The challenge of being a secondary teacher lies in the fact that they deal with secondary school students, who are more independent and have varied interests than primary school students.

Aside from the two basic types of teachers, there are also teachers who handle special types of education. There are Montessori teachers who teach in Montessori schools. Their job is very distinct from that of an ordinary school teacher. A Montessori teacher is mostly a guide for the students, unlike in ordinary school teaching jobs where the teacher's job is the focal point of education. Aside from that, teaching jobs also include the teachers who teach special cases, such as handicapped children or children with mental challenges. Such teachers should be flexible and adaptable to be able to cope with the special needs of the special students.

The expanse of teaching jobs also involves the administrative teacher posts such as head teacher jobs, principal jobs, and department heads. Head teacher posts require leadership and managerial skills. They should also have excellent teaching skills. Some head teachers still have teaching responsibilities, while some don't. However, for them to be able to evaluate the curriculum and the performance of the teachers in their team, they should also have teaching background and experiences. Principals need strong operational skills to head the teachers and the school staff, and department heads should have extensive subject knowledge and leadership skills as well. The other side of the hierarchy is also still considered a teaching job. There are assistant teaching posts available, wherein the assistant teacher is expected to assist and help out the primary teacher in handling the students.

With all of these options when it comes to teaching jobs, the opportunities are quite endless, and teaching jobs are offering brighter prospects than ever.

Construction Job Descriptions

The process of building involves various levels of working. There are different layers of jobs and their profile differs from one another. The various levels involve the following roles:

1. The architect
2. The project manager
3. The contractor
4. The foreman
5. The superintendent
6. The construction manager and
7. The laborers

There might be more added to these and each profile has its own set of responsibilities. If a construction manager ends up working as a labor, this will be unfair for him/her not because the job is not fit for him but because he was chosen for a different set of responsibilities. What is the use of opting for a job if he/she is unable to do what he/she has been hired for?

Decide upon what you require for the team and how the employee can add to the functionality of the same. Once you are sure you need someone for a specific role then go and hire. Make sure you hire the right person who can take out the responsibility well. Construction job descriptions are important as the difference between the classes or workers are very narrow. It must be accurately delineated to avoid any misunderstanding. For example the project manager has a different set of responsibilities and cannot be mixed up with that of the construction manager. Yes, both are managing but different levels of work.

A Preschool Teacher's Role

In preschool, a teacher's primary role is to teach. Of course she will love, nurture, serve as a role model, and even change diapers for her charges, but first and foremost her goal is to teach. At times, parents lose sight of this.

At three years old, Colleen's parents hadn't started potty training her yet. Every day she would move her bowels at one o'clock, and you could almost set your watch to it. The girl was very regular. Her teacher spoke with her father, and suggested that they work together to begin to toilet train Colleen.

Her father became instantly offended and told the teacher that he would train his daughter when he believed it was time and it was not her place to make that suggestion. He went on to say that changing his daughter's diaper was the teacher's job and she shouldn't complain about doing her job.

This was a disheartening conversation. To begin with, changing diapers is not in the teacher's job description for a three year old. In many schools, children who aren't potty trained aren't even allowed to enroll. While in our school teachers willingly change children out of love and caring, the teacher's job is to teach, not change diapers. Potty training can be very difficult, and this teacher was willing to help Colleen's parents with the task. Her father should have not only appreciated her desire to help out, but also her willingness to change his daughter's soiled diapers so many times. Face it, a three year old's bowel movement is very different than that of an infant. It is not a pleasant job for anyone.

Some parents have personal reasons for waiting to potty train their children until they are older, even four or five years old. They believe that if they wait until their child is completely ready on his own, it will be a far easier process. If that is how you feel, at least say thank you to the teacher who needs to clean and change your child while she is at school.

And please don't lose sight of the teacher's primary responsibility, which is teaching.
