Construction Job Descriptions

The process of building involves various levels of working. There are different layers of jobs and their profile differs from one another. The various levels involve the following roles:

1. The architect
2. The project manager
3. The contractor
4. The foreman
5. The superintendent
6. The construction manager and
7. The laborers

There might be more added to these and each profile has its own set of responsibilities. If a construction manager ends up working as a labor, this will be unfair for him/her not because the job is not fit for him but because he was chosen for a different set of responsibilities. What is the use of opting for a job if he/she is unable to do what he/she has been hired for?

Decide upon what you require for the team and how the employee can add to the functionality of the same. Once you are sure you need someone for a specific role then go and hire. Make sure you hire the right person who can take out the responsibility well. Construction job descriptions are important as the difference between the classes or workers are very narrow. It must be accurately delineated to avoid any misunderstanding. For example the project manager has a different set of responsibilities and cannot be mixed up with that of the construction manager. Yes, both are managing but different levels of work.
